Forest Philharmonic plays Coleridge-Taylor, Dvorak and Schumann

Sunday 12 March 2023 at 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
COLERIDGE-TAYLOR Ballade in A minor,
DVORAK Cello Concerto,
SCHUMANN Symphony No. 3 (Rhenish)

Conductor: Mark Shanahan

Cello: Gemma Rosefield

This concert starts with two great pieces from the 1890s, one very rarely heard despite its brilliance, the Ballade in A minor by pioneer black British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and the other being the ever-popular and nostalgic Cello Concerto by Dvorak, featuring Forest Philharmonic favourite Gemma Rosefield. We end with Robert Schumann’s mature masterwork Symphony No. 3 (Rhenish), a symphony evoking the splendour of Köln and the Rhine.

The event will adhere to UK government guidance around Covid in place at the time of the concert. We will offer a full refund if the event is unable to take place due to increased Covid restrictions.
