Forest Philharmonic plays Suk, Khachaturian and Prokofiev
KHACHATURIAN Flute Concerto
PROKOFIEV Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2
Flute: Chris Wyatt
We conclude the season with three early 20th Century pieces from Eastern Europe and beyond – Czech composer Josef Suk’s 1902 Scherzo Fantastique, by turns energetic and lyrical; Armenian Khachaturian’s 1940 Violin Concerto in a spectacular transcription for Flute, with our very own flute virtuoso Chris Wyatt as soloist; and Prokofiev’s always-appealing take on Shakespeare’s tragic Romeo and Juliet from 1935.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
