How we see ourselves: the Transcultural Self
This workshop will aim to muse all the different cultural and social selves we hold in ourselves (Gender, heritage, race, sexuality, neurodiversity, language, location etc ) presently, historically and ancestrally. And how these manifest in how we see ourselves and how others see us. Victoria, a Wanstead resident, transactional analyst, psychotherapist and community artist, will invite us to account for and map all our identities and consider the parts of ourselves that hold privilege and those that are oppressed. We will reflect on which parts of our cultural selves we bring to each unique encounter and the parts we bring to the fore or indeed mask, in order to belong. Victoria will introduce the idea that we hold many cultural selves and introduce us to a model of Ego states that locates these in self. We will create a wall of cultural Identities and muse difference and connection. It will be an experiential and creative workshop.
