When will the police do something about speeding and racing in Wanstead, and also tackle cars and motorcycles which have had the exhausts altered to make them extremely noisy. And how about checking the insurance of many young drivers who drive expensive and high performance cars. No doubt many are on their parents insurance even though the parents do not drive the vehicles. Then there are many delivery mopeds where the riders have no insurance, licence, tax and MOT, or the right to work. I have given up complaining to the police. These dangers, nuisances and other offences don’t even seem to be on their ‘radar!’
Not to mention the electric scooters on the pavements . Still, it will all be so much lovelier and calmer when the market stalls appear.
The just eat cyclists will be over the moon
Indeed. How dare those guys who deliver hundreds of meals to the Wanstead residents have somewhere to sit…..
If there is room on the pavements for market stalls then there was room for a parklet or two, without having to sit in the road getting covered in brake dust and tyre crumb..
So they’ve repaired a dangerous waste of space. Sitting in the road isn’t ever going to end well. You’d’ve thought the idiots from Redbridge Council would’ve heeded the warning. – instead they doubled down. Let’s see what happens when a bus collides with their stupid idea.
The parklet is not dangerous. It was the driver that smashed into it that was dangerous. The problem is badly driven vehicles. Anything we can do to restrict or discourage those in heavily pedestrian areas should be welcomed.
It was delightful when the road was closed during the festival. This should be a regular feature on market days.
