Wanstead Corner House Garden
It all began in 2003 when a few members of the Wanstead community set out to rid the High Street’s Corner House (Age Concern Luncheon Club) garden, a space in a prime location filled with potential, of its waist high weeds, bottles, tin cans, and take-away cartons.
Under the auspices of the Wanstead Society, we approached the council and asked to adopt the sad patch of land as an honorary Wanstead flower bed. This previously neglected piece of ground soon became the cottage garden that is such a feature of Wanstead that it would be hard to imagine the High Street without it. Pleased with our efforts and the many rewards they brought, we have been transforming neglected land in Wanstead ever since.
