Martin Talbot beat me to it! Just in the process of reading “Flesh” by David Szalay, this year’s Booker winner. Enjoying the book and also enjoying the reference to the protagonist Istvan running on the Wanstead Flats but also references to Gants Hill, The Faces, The Havelock and his training course in Romford! I wonder if David Szalay lived in the area at some point?
