Cautionary tale

Wansteadium reader Lloyd Matthews writes:

Hi,

I thought I would share this cautionary tale to residents of Wanstead.

I briefly stopped in my car on the ‘Bus Stand’ opposite Wanstead Pharmacy for my wife to post a letter (no buses in sight). I received a penalty notice which surprised me; other residents should be aware that there is an enforcement camera in operation.

Note to all: you have been warned.

Wanstead back on our screens

laundrette-adRegular readers will know we obsessively monitor Wanstead’s appearance in adverts, TV programmes and newspapers.

This sighting – of the laundrette in Wanstead High Street in a TV ad – is not technically new, but it’s worth repeating, both because the advert is running again and also because the laundrette is now no longer operating.

So sit back and enjoy Wanstead Laundrette’s glory day. It never looked finer.

Thanks to Neil Wells for the tip. If you’re using an iPhone, you’ll need to click here to watch it.

  • PS. We’ve been told that Wanstead Roller supplier Elegance Wedding Cars is featuring on ITV’s This Morning. Any photographic evidence appreciated.

Delicatasted

It’s not looking good for unsung stalwart cafe of the High Street, Delicataste. Pretty much empty inside, the padlock on the door unwavering. It was admired for its breakfasts and salt beef sandwiches, but its apparent passing has barely raised an eyebrow. This is the time to spare it a thought.

  • Meanwhile good luck to Fat Biscuit, formerly Mario’s Shake Shack, which is undergoing a refit and due to reopen soon.
