Fabulous bluebell pictures

That’s not overselling these shots which have set the bar VERY HIGH for anyone wanting to be crowned Wansteadium’s Pro-Am Champion Bluebell Photographer 2016.

First up is Paul Hancock, above, who runs the Wanstead Portrait Studio. (Yes, professionals are welcome to compete too. That’s why it’s Pro-Am, though that rule has just been made up.)

But Paul’s not alone. Taking our brief of awarding extra points for originality, Jennifer Schenck submitted these:

MP & NS

Lone Wolf

Bully by the Bells

Sisters

East London Bluebells

Any more contenders are welcome to email their photos to info@wansteadium.com

Let the bluebell photo festival begin

A beautiful day for a walk in Wanstead Park to take pictures of the show of bluebells. As is now traditional we’ll show the best here – send them to info@wansteadium.com or tag them #wanstead on social media. Special points will be awarded for originality.
(The one above was taken by ace snapper Clive Power.)

Anger, frustration, irritation, foreboding – some of the emotions greeting the news that the fourth instalment of Blake Hell Road is being planned for up to 20 weeks starting in June.

Residents have been told by National Grid that the work to replace metal gas mains with plastic pipes will start on 20 June.

The roadworks for the previous two bouts of work – over Christmas and summer last year – have meant temporary lights and looong delays in both direction.

Mysterious and potentially worrying, but…

IMG_1032…not actually in Wanstead. It happened in Woodford.

Number five in a series of things which didn’t actually happen in Wanstead, including such classics as:

“Fascinating but…” (August 2014)

“It’s good but..” (July 2014)

“Horrible, but…” (June 2014)

“Not in Wanstead” (November 2011)
