Customers seem to be rallying round Imran Asghar, cricket-loving ironmonger and Tool Box proprietor, following a racist knife attack he suffered in his shop last week. Four men, one in his 50s, and one with a crutch, entered the shop, assaulted Imran, threatened him and abused him racially. Partly as a result, the shop seems busier than ever.

Good to see the community of Wanstead supporting Imran.
This is HORRIBLE, I feel sick.
I’m just one of Imran’s many many customers and he is genuinely one of the nicest blokes I’ve met, and is always so helpful and so friendly – how can this happen to him? How can it happen to ANYONE in 2017? 🙁
What a shame this happened. Imran is a lovely bloke was happy to help me every time I came into his store. I will continue to shop at his well stocked store during future projects in Wanstead ð
Very sad to hear about this cowardly and traumatic attack. Imran treats his customers with great respect (and forbearance) and I hope he is fully recovered by now.
A shame, particularly given that this is someone who is contributing to the local community.
Awful news! I sometimes go into this shop and Imran is always kind, friendly and helpful. I hope these people get punished for this terrible crime!
Absolute disgrace. Don’t know Imran personally but was very helpful and accommodating last time I used his shop. I wish him well.

He’s a lovely, helpful guy! Those thugs should be dealt with!
We wish you better Imran and so sorry this happened to you x
Imran, please know that most of us are nothing like the evil people who attacked and abused you. Get better soon. Wanstead needs you and your shop.
all the support to Imran. No racist scum in wanstead!
This makes my blood boil!
Fantastic shop. I’ve bought everything from mouse-traps to furry hats for my kids – and always have a good chat about the cricket!
Well done Wanstead for rallying round.
Lets hope the scumbags get caught ……..real soon.
I appreciate all the wishes and all the lovely comments about how I (try) to treat my customers. Overwhelmed truly.
Can I just say your wishes are so overwhelming. I appreciate all the support I’ve received over the past week, from gifts, moral support and even people offering to help at the shop. Upwards & onwards I guess. Once again, thank you.
B******s. So sorry to hear of this, Imran. You are a valued presence on the high street.
They always have pretty much everything I need and the prices are generally better than the big chains.
Why should hard working people be subjected to such horrors – where were our local police !
OMG Imran, I hope your okay… you’ll have to step up security as the haters don’t like it when a person succeeds as they don’t believe in applying themselves, working hard and grafting!!
All the best, your valued on our high street and I’m sure we will do our upmost to support you.
