Wanstead’s new wine and cheese bar is open

Congratulations to Matt Day on the opening of Daygustation, Wanstead’s new high street wine and cheese bar. He’s the latest example of a Wanstead resident turning a passion into an occupation. He’s worked in wine for the past 20 years but not had his own shop like this before and decided over the lockdown that now was the time to fulfil his ambition.

The shop has a hand-picked range of wines, plus cheese and meats, and in due course plates will be served at the barrels at the front of the shop, which is in the former Martin&Co office at the Snaresbrook end of the high street.

Good luck to Matt on his new venture!

  1. Good luck with your new Venture Matt, really hope its a great success.
From one of the older residents of Wanstead who much enjoyed celebrating Beaujolais days when Russells Wine Bar was one of the best places to go in Wanstead, some 30/40 years ago.

    1. Fantastic new addition to Wanstead. I shall be visiting this week. Cheese, wine and Meats – what more could you want. Maybe a little bread. Yes, I remember Russell’s wine bar too. At one point it was THE place to go and sometimes you would have to queue to get in!

  2. To be even more Politically “In Tune” Matt “Day” could parody Degustation like the EastEnders Bar to GayGustation lol

  3. Is that Matt Day in that photo? He doesn’t look very happy….. more a Mr Grumpy – crumbs, his expression is not very welcoming Hope he cheers up a bit for the customers!

Somewhere in the world it’s gone midday so have a large glass of wine and wishing best of luck to the new wine bar and a big cheers for its success.
