Rogue surgeons??

The strong winds may well bring some damage to trees in Wanstead gardens, but there is a warning about rogue tree surgeons operating in the area.

Last week some Wanstead residents noticed men cutting trees in a neighbour’s garden, and asked them to do some work for them. In cutting the trees the men damaged a roof. When an attempt was made later to contact the firm to discuss the damage, the company the men said they had been representing denied they had ever done any work in Wanstead. The company said it had probably been cowboys armed with some nicked business cards. This is going to make it difficult to get the repairs paid for. Trading Standards have been contacted, but Wanstead residents are being advised through Neighbourhood Watch to be on their guard and check out any traders before they start work.

The Wanstead tree is here… but so’s a seasonal warning

That’s the expert prediction from Scott Whitehead, the resident Wanstead weatherman and Wansteadium’s arboricultural correspondent. When the pine needles are deep and crisp and even on Christmas morn, remember that you heard the prediction here first.

(And of course worth noting that no crowdfunding was involved in the supply of this tree…)
