That big thing? Looks like it’s Superdrug
Rumours that Superdrug is coming to Wanstead have been confirmed by a job advert published by the company. They are thought to be lined up for the site previously occupied by the HSBC and Londis. (Spotted by Robespierre)
Something big is coming
Wanstead’s lamented Londis, and its neighbour, the missing Midland hollowed HSBC are being redeveloped. And from being nosy it looks as if it’s all going to be one big premises. It’s a pretty large space inside – almost too big for a shop. But probably the right size for a big restaurant. Offers of intelligence are welcome in the usual manner.

Wanstead’s newest estate agents, Stow Brothers, is now open and looking good. As always with new ventures on the High Street, we wish it well.
Wanstead on film again
Wansteadium reader Peter sends intelligence from Forest School, which he says is “sort of Wanstead, E17 postcode notwithstanding”.
Filming going on this week for The Death & Life of John F Donovan about a American actor (Kit Harington) & his controversial correspondence with an English schoolboy. Forest is standing in for the English school. Big name cast according to IMDB (Natalie Portman, Kathy Bates, Thandie Newton, Susan Sarandon, Michael Gambon). Not sure of any of the big name actors on location here.
