Just met this cute little fella in Chalet Wood, Wanstead Park. Thinking of calling him Stoaty McStoatface @CoLEppingForest @wansteadium pic.twitter.com/EXFeJCQPIz

New Co-op
Who would have thought the old Argus Lighting shop on George Lane would turn into something useful? But lo and behold, a brand new Co-op, looking stylish in 2017 regulation grey.
Ginger Pig closed after break-in

Wanstead’s Ginger Pig is closed on Monday because of a break in.
Sorry to announce that our Wanstead shop won't be open today due to a break in. Apologies for any inconvenience, we will be back ASAP.

A spokesman told the Wanstead Guardian:
“Our priority is establishing what’s happened and the situation inside the shop. The police are involved and they are dealing with it now. But we want to try to reopen as soon as possible.”
The best extension in Wanstead?
The attention to detail on the outside of this extension on Grosvenor Road is something to behold. Congratulations to owner, architect and builder.

Another spring clean
There is a second opportunity to join a clean-up at Tarzy Wood on Saturday so that it can be opened up a bit for wildlife and visitors. It takes place between 10am and 1pm, and tea, biscuits and tools will be provided.
Tarzy Wood is the piece of woodland which starts at the corner of New Wanstead and the High Street. In the 19th Century it was saved from development by enraged Wanstead citizenry who tore down fencing put around it by its owner, who planned to build on it. The people – perhaps the very kind of people who read Wansteadium? – were determined to save it for public use.
